Step 1: From Photo & Concept to Hand-Drawn Design

The project began with a reference photograph provided by the client depicting a magnificent Horned Owl perched on a pine branch amidst a snowy forest setting.

Based on the client’s exact doorway measurements, our master artist translated the photograph into a detailed Hand-Drawn Architectural CAD Sketch (REV-E draft). The design incorporates:

• A deeply textured relief carving of the Horned Owl on a pine branch.

• Rich forest background details including pine bark texture, foliage, and a subtle wilderness scene below.

• A custom inspirational inscription engraved near the base: “Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created. – Esther 4:14”.

Step 2: Hand-Carving & Real-Time Progress Updates

Once the sketch and specifications were approved by the client, our artisan team selected premium solid timber and began the multi-stage carving process.

To keep our client involved and connected throughout the journey, we shared real-time photo and video updates from our workshop at every key milestone—from the initial rough outline to the fine hand-tooling of delicate feather textures and tree bark details.

Step 3: Dual-Sided Structural Engineering (Art Front, 3-Panel Back)

A custom door must be as structurally sound as it is visually beautiful.

• Front Side: Features the full deep-relief Great Horned Owl carving panel set into a heavy-duty solid wood frame.

• Back Side: Engineered with a robust Classic 3-Panel Construction.

This dual-layer structure provides maximum stability, resisting warping, twisting, or expanding over time, ensuring the door maintains smooth operation and structural integrity for decades to come.

Step 4: Fine Sanding, Custom Staining, & Quality Approval

After completing the woodwork, the door underwent extensive hand-sanding to highlight the natural grain and contrast of the deep carving. High-grade protective wood finishes were applied to bring out warm, rich tones while protecting the wood fibers.

Before packing, final high-resolution photos were provided to the client for full review and approval.

Step 5: Reinforced Wooden Crate Packaging & Global Shipping

To ensure safe transit from our workshop straight to the client’s residence in the United States, the door was carefully protected, padded, and secured inside a custom reinforced wooden crate built specifically for heavy freight shipping.
